Welcome
to all LSU Tiger alumni and friends!
 While our primary mission of
the Central Florida chapter is to raise monies for our scholarship
fund, we also organize Tiger fans for fun and fellowship through
various socials, viewings, and sporting events. For instance, we
usually gather together to cheer the Tigers to victory during football
season, and we hold an annual crawfish boil in the spring. Each
year a scholarship is awarded to an applicant who wishes to attend
LSU. Information and an application for our scholarship program
can be found here. We encourage you to become a part of our chapter
and help us spread Tiger spirit throughout Central Florida! If you

The pricing wasn't to raise money on the food. It was to keep the money made on fundraising through the auction/raffle going toward the scholarship and not subsidizing the food.
You could order as many 3-lb boxes as you would like at $6/lb and some did. After having actual receipts from last year, we were able to see that the auction/raffle subsidized the food and venue rental. We could not have that. We looked at other chapters and went with their successful layout. The separate admission is b/c we get many emails every year from people wanting to attend; but, they don't want to pay the full price due to not liking crawfish or being allergic to them.
The 2011 boil netted $546.59 last year. The auction bidders brought in $2,356.23 and the raffle another $613.09; so, you can see, this business model wasn't working. All that money should have gone to the scholarship not to subsidize the rental/food/drinks.
Last year, members paid $32. This year, for 3lbs, it was $15 + $18 for a total of $33. For nonmembers last year, it was $46. For the current year with 3lbs, it was $25 +$18 for a total of $43.
To break even on the food last year, we needed to have ordered/served approx 540 less pounds of crawfish. People would have panicked over the "lack of crawfish". This structure was the only way to have a cost control and ensure people get the amount of crawfish they desire. |

It is with great sadness that we have decided to cancel the 2012 Mardi Gras Ball. With it being 30 days away and few tickets sold, we voted to cancel. We hope you understand. If you have paid, you will receive a refund within the next 24 hours. We may be able to get a Happy Hour together to celebrate Mardi Gras. Our projected crawfish boil date is May 19! |
