We need to really bring in a Tiger Crowd. How many TVs carry the game and where we are seated depends on the size of our crowd. GEAUX TIGERS.
We didn't. On Tuesday, August 23 Mojo's informed us they are no longer willing to host our view-ins. With less than 2 weeks before the season kick-off, we were left scrambling. We aren't sure what made Mojo's have this change of heart after heavily recruiting us last football season. We even had a meeting with management early in the summer to discuss the upcoming football season. No real reason was given; however, on their website, you can see that they have comedians booked there on Saturday nights.
There is power in numbers
Many places don't want a large group to come in and sit for hours. If you are sitting, they want you to purchase. So, we aren't attractive to some places. We don't always fill the house as our attendance to the view-ins is hit or miss. Please understand that we are looking for centrally located because this is best for the overall population of the chapter. If on the East side, the west side doesn't attend and vice versa. We need to come together and show our spirit. This is the time we really need to rally to show our numbers—there is power in numbers.
Suggestions:
We asked for suggestions and we have listened. We also listened and remember the numerous complaints that we heard from members about Legends (service, crowd, etc.), Front Row—no longer open, and Gators (location, service, name). Tibby's has been suggested numerous times; but, they don't want to be a sports bar (that is why they don't have TVs up everywhere) nor do they want people sitting at tables for a long time on the weekends when they are packed. Toni spoke to Tibby's management before they opened; but, they are a "no-go".
Pipers downtown doesn't want to "host" any particular sport's team. Places in Winter Garden have been suggested, the Dr. Phillip's area, near the airport, Deland, and Lake Mary.
Let's all get out there and show our camaraderie!! Maybe make a new friend, maybe find an old friend, but always shouting GEAUX TIGERS! |

Our Inaugural Mardi Gras Ball was a huge success! With over 90 in attendance we got to meet local Tigers, Tigers from the Atlantic Coast, Tampa area and from South Florida! One thing is for certain. No matter where we live, we like to have a good time.
We are beginning to plan the 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Ball. If you were at the Inaugural Ball this year, tell your friends about the great time on our facebook page and how they won't want to miss the 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Ball.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact us at orlandotigers@gmail.com. Don't be shy! We are looking for venues, food, etc. We are again looking at hosting The Mardi Gras Ball the weekend prior to Mardi Gras weekend, which would be February 11, 2012 |
